Introducing J Huston Tavern on the Green!
Every Thursday evening this summer, Chef Daniel will fire up our smoker and grill to create a one-night-only menu featuring something special from the pit.
The menu will change each week, giving you a new reason to join us and see what Chef Daniel has planned. On Thursdays, we’ll be serving only our Tavern on the Green specials, and our regular menu will not be available (with the exception of our fried chicken and signature salads, which will be available).
Enjoy all the sights, smells, and flavors of outdoor cooking while dining comfortably indoors. Rain or shine, hot or not, Tavern on the Green is on—the cooking happens outside, but the seating stays inside.

Join the J. Huston Tavern Society
In early spring 2024, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) sought a vendor to operate the historic J Huston Tavern after the Friends of Arrow Rock terminated their lease agreement in December 2023. However, DNR was unsuccessful in securing an operator. In response, a group of local historic preservation advocates and residents of Arrow Rock formed the J Huston Tavern Society (JHTS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to “maintain and preserve the tradition of the J Huston Tavern as the oldest continuously operating restaurant west of the Mississippi.”
Now we invite you to join us in this important mission.
