PRAYERS FOR CHEF DANIEL
Chef Daniel was in an accident on September 29, and is still in ICU at University Hospital in Columbia. His Tavern family are all sending our love and well wishes for a speedy and complete recovery, and we invite you to join us in that endeavor.
His dedication to the Tavern and our team has been unwavering and we certainly plan to support him and his fiancée, Erica, in every way possible.
One thing we know for sure is that Chef would want the show to go on! We are currently seeking interim chefs who can help out in the kitchen in Daniel’s absence and still provide the level of service we have all grown accustomed to under Chef Daniel’s leadership.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this difficult time and please make sure to double check our hours of operation during the immediate future. We will keep you updated as much as possible.
Come enjoy warm hospitality and delicious food.

Join the J. Huston Tavern Society
In early spring 2024, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources (DNR) sought a vendor to operate the historic J Huston Tavern after the Friends of Arrow Rock terminated their lease agreement in December 2023. However, DNR was unsuccessful in securing an operator. In response, a group of local historic preservation advocates and residents of Arrow Rock formed the J Huston Tavern Society (JHTS), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our mission is to “maintain and preserve the tradition of the J Huston Tavern as the oldest continuously operating restaurant west of the Mississippi.”
Now we invite you to join us in this important mission.
